Chemistry

Amongst other things, the alloy (chemistry) used in the production of the battery will dictate how well the battery will cycle; how long it will live when properly maintained; how much it will gas when being discharged and recharged, and how much water it will use.

  • Typically calcium/calcium alloys will use less water and will live better in heat. They may not cycle as long as antimony alloys but they will deliver current quickly and efficiently.
  • The higher Antimony alloys will generally produce batteries that will deliver very good cycle time but will use more water in the process and will require more maintenance.
  • Hybrid alloys will perform somewhere in between.
  • Discover™ uses every alloy in its broad range of products allowing us to meet the needs of the requirement.
